Behind the scenes of the Saint Vincent de Paul Retrofittings Fashion Show

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A fashion show for a good cause happens tonight at Cincinnati Music Hall.

Saint Vincent de Paul’s Retrofittings Fashion Show features looks made by University of Cincinnati students.

45 fashion design majors were given a prompt and $20 to shop at Saint Vincent de Paul thrift stores for materials. Each student designed one look for the show.

Local 12 got a sneak peek of the show’s looks, including the first place prize winner, third year fashion design major Addison Lane’s runway-ready style.

The dress is checkered pink and is the final look for the night’s show. It features an off-the-shoulder corset bodice with a structured bustle and long skirt.

The structured bustle holds a tea set.

Lane says the piece is inspired by the camp and elegance of the 1960s.

“I was thinking head, shoulders, what do I want to do? And I got in the thrift store and immediately saw this awesome plaid and I’m like, okay it’s settled, I want this picnic, dinnertime piece but she has the table with herI wanted a ‘60s housewife kind of deal,” said Lane.

Other looks include pieces made with books, sleeping bags, beads, and more.

Registration for the fashion show is closed, but you can donate to Saint Vincent de Paul anytime:
