‘Emily in Paris’ costume designer breaks down Lily Collins’ best…

“Emily in Paris” fans, prepare to say bonjour to some fabulous new fashions.

The Netflix show’s titular marketing maven (played by Lily Collins) is known for her statement-making styles — and while Season 4 production has yet to start, costume designer Marylin Fitoussi is already dreaming of filling her closet with fresh looks.

“It’s always challenging to reinvent,” she tells Page Six Style while discussing Dharma and Paramount Global’s “Paris by Emily” trip.

“I’m looking at many, many shows and meeting a lot of young designers.”

After all, the show’s never shied away from trying something new; “It’s another way of thinking of fashion and seeing Paris, [while] also giving this freedom to think outside of the box and mix everything,” explains Fitoussi, who says she thinks the audience “understood it before fashion magazines did.”

“[The audience] understood my way of being maximalist, of mixing a lot of color, bold print and affordable brands and vintage,” says the costume designer.

Those fashion-loving fans are the target demo for the “Paris by Emily” trip, a five-day group getaway inspired by Emily’s adventures and hosted by “Perfect Match” star Ines Tazi. (“This is the kind of tour I would like to experience. I’m a fan also,” Fitoussi adds.)

As for what Europe-bound viewers should pack? Just as Emily forgoes fashion “any tour guide says that we need” — like trench coats and striped T-shirts — Fitoussi recommends travelers stuff their suitcases with creative choices.

“I think that is the rule No. 1: Life is too short to wear boring clothes, so come with your own style and pack colorful clothes and don’t try to look Parisian,” she says.

Looking for some less-than-boring looks to wear while waiting for Season 4 to drop? Keep reading for the stories behind Fitoussi’s favorite Emily outfits so far — and to shop similar styles inspired by each.

Thinking pink (Season 1)

“I think that with this particular outfit, we had all the DNA of the show. I remember this was the first time that I saw a little fear in Lily’s eyes. She said, ‘Are you sure?… It’s very pink.’

“She tried it and she loved it immediately. At the beginning, I never thought about having a full pink look, but we [were] loaned this beautiful pair of silky, shocking pink shoes at Christian Louboutin. And by chance, I found a pair of socks in pink.”

“I went to Milan to attend the Dolce & Gabbana runway, I saw this statement piece and I immediately fell in love. We were thinking of this piece for Mindy, but when I read the script and when I discovered the location where they went to pay tribute to Pierre Cadault, I thought about this jacket.

“We called Dolce & Gabbana, and they sent it to us right away. I think it was perfect for Emily, because the jacket says, ‘Here I am.’”

“It was a little glimpse of Parisian fashion …. I really, really love this moment. Everything was like a macaron box on the set, with so many colors in the flowers and the jacket.”

Traveling in style (Season 2)

Emily’s headscarf was a last-minute addition to this look.

“This look came from nowhere because we were short on time shooting and Andy, the director, said to me, ‘OK Marilyn, she spent the night in the train. We don’t have time to mess up her hair, so what can you do?’ I said a scarf would be the solution to hide what she has underneath.

“Honestly, we did this look in the moment … The costume supervisor had discovered it in a bag. And I ran to the truck and I found the coat. Sometimes, improvisation can make a good look.”
