BIZTODAY China-Shanghai Fashion Week/Int’l Buyers

Int’l buyers return to Shanghai Fashion Week after pandemic pause 【Voice_over】 After four years, Lorenzo Hadar is back in Shanghai. He owns a boutique store in Los Angeles and has been in retail fashion for decades. 【Sound_bite】 Lorenzo Hadar, Founder of H.Lorenzo Boutique Store: “It’s been a long time. I missed kind of. I really liked before, really like Shanghai. The dynamic came with it. I wanna to see if it’s still the same.” 【Voice_over】 Hadar has been an old friend of Shanghai Fashion Week. Back in 2016, he discovered Chen Peng at the event and brought his designs to LA. Now, Chen is a well-known designer in the global fashion industry. This time, Hadar is hoping to see more. 【Sound_bite】 Lorenzo Hadar, Founder of H.Lorenzo Boutique Store: “Before the coronavirus, we developed the market for people to look for something new. They always find new things from Shanghai, from China. It was exciting before the coronavirus. Let’s hope we can continue.” 【Voice_over】 There are new foreign faces at the fashion week too. It’s the first time Jose has come to China. He is a fashion writer based in New York. 【Sound_bite】 Jose Criales-Unzueta, Contributor, Vogue Runway: “It’s very cool. It’s very interesting. I went to one show last night. I walked around Mode today, which is staff only. It’s beautiful. It’s really interesting to see cool young designers. What I have really noticed is the quality of how beautiful everything is made.” 【Stand_up】 Chen Tong, Reporter: “For some time, I have been covering Shanghai fashion weeks almost every season. To be honest, rarely any foreign buyers showed up during the past three years. But the return of foreign buyers is showing a sign that China’s fashion industry is gradually walking out of the shadows.” 【Voice_over】 This season, over one thousand Chinese designers are showing their latest designs to buyers.
