Spectators will be able to travel through time during Willoughby Historical Society’s “Fashion through the decades: A tea, luncheon and fashion show fundraiser” event.

The event is scheduled 1 to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at the David E. Anderson Senior Center in Willoughby, 36939 Ridge Road. Tickets for the event, which is open to the public, can be found on Eventbrite by searching Fashion through the decades: a tea, luncheon and fashion show fundraiser.

According to Sharon Fujs, vice president of the Willoughby Historical Society, proceeds from the event will benefit the Willoughby Area Welcome Center, located at 2 E. Spaulding St. in Downtown Willoughby. The center serves all of Lake County, providing information on things to do, places to see and eat, as well as artifacts.

During the event, the Willoughby Fashion Shop will be spotlighted. The shop was in business between 1932 and the 1980s where The Wild Goose currently is today in Downtown Willoughby. So far, 59 people have registered for the event, Fujs said.

“It’s a hot ticket,” she said. “The show will have fashions from every decade that the Willoughby Fashion Shop was open. We have vintage clothes, accessories and models — professional models and some models from the Willoughby Historical Society.”

The luncheon will be catered by one of the Historical Society’s members and tea will be provided by Palmer Place Fine Teas out of Willowick. Willoughby merchants have also provided baskets for the raffle that will take place during the event.

“The Willoughby Area Welcome Center has thousands of visitors each year, all enjoying what Willoughby has to offer and the surrounding communities,” Fujs said. “It’s a wonderful tourist destination.”

The Historical Society is in need of volunteers to help at the event. Those interested may call Fujs at 440-503-1132. Lunch and tea will also be provided to the volunteers.

The Historical Society was founded in 1961 and collects as well as maintains artifacts and materials relative to the area.

According to the Historical Society, its mission is to enhance the quality of life in the city by continually expanding, preserving, maintaining and making available the artifacts, materials and collections that have shaped its shared history.
